Green bean seedlings - came up in less than a week! My gardening assistant, Hawaa, is keeping a close watch!
Three of my 12 tomato plants. Our new house has a mesh fence all along the rear of the backyard. No tomato cages this year, Alhamdulilah. I can tie them to the mesh fence.
Above is what I put in so far: squash, broccoli, cauliflower, green and yellow peppers, and a load of different herbs (chive, sage, coriander, basil, and more).
The extra space is for the green beans, Insha Allah!
Say dua that the rabbits don't "visit"my garden!
Okay, perhaps flower pics later!

@ 3rd: I've been visiting you, but not commenting. You are in my Subscription list so never fear, lol.
Ah, the gardening HAS been keeping me busy. With my age and health, I commit myself to about a half hour a day. Actually, it is good exercise for me. Also, I have been doing an extensive editing job. Sigh - I have no life until May 15th (editing deadline).
@ ~PakKaramu~ I wish I could read your blog dear, but I am not familiar with your language. Keep coming back, though!
your cat is quite cute!
Salaams Mezba:
Jazaka Allahu Khayrn. She is very special to me. She and her litter mate, Samir, were born in Masjid Ikhwa in Brooklyn, NY. They meow like crazy when they hear Qur'an being recited, Alhamdulillah!
Salams Saf!
Love the kitty. I just adore cats. She is very cute.
I dream of us owning a home someday, as I cannot wait to hae a veggie garden. It is a very rewarding and threraputic hobby to have. Harvesting is the best part :) Nothing tastes better than fresh garden salads etc. Yum.
May Allah bless you with a bounty of crops, Ameen!

Salaams Dear iMuslimah!
Yes, she is my adorable buddy. Since I have retired, she follows me everywhere I go in the house. It's wonderful how she has warmed up. She was the last kitty (runt of litter) left at the masjid. So, she wasn't very sociable. But, we loved her up and now she's a whole different kitty :)
I dreamt of home ownship for the last 20 years. After hubby and I retired, we were finally able to buy a home, Alhamdulillah.
I absolutely adore gardening, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor gardening has been very therapeutic for me with my MS. I find that I am more flexible and I have more energy, Alhamdulillah. I try to get "out there" for at least a half hour daily. I also have a lot of flowers which Insha Allah I will post pics soon.
Also, I want to buy a chest freezer for the basement. Insha Allah I will learn how to freeze the harvest for some winter eating. Of course, as Muslims, we should share with the neighbors!
I hope that your editing is going smoothly.
I also love how you have this great blog Safiyyah, but have kept things private such as your new home. Mashallah, it is really nice sister, the backyard looks so big. I also had forgotten aout your MS as you never, ever complain and hope you are well.
Mashallah for your lesson in patience. I'm really proud of you dearest one, for waiting for this dream home ownership, but never complaining.
You could even do some canning with the tomatoes, and that would add to the flavor. Of course, after the editing is done. Love you lots dear, so nice to see you doing so well. Love you!
Greetings Dear Lisa:
"patient" lol - well, talk to my husband. He would say that I nagged and nagged about getting a home, lol.
Anyhow, yes, Masha Allah, the yard is big. What you see in the post is actually the back of the garage! Alhamdulillah, I have devoted the rest of the yard to flowers. I am trying to put in mostly perennials. This way, they can come up year after year and with my MS, I won't have to worry about putting anything in except vegetables. And oh, yes, the porch!
I have a great old-fashioned porch. The kind you hang a porch swing from.
Pics of the porch with its flowers, too, Insha Allah.
I guess you can see that I love my house, Alhamdulillah!
We actually live on an island. A REAL island. It's divided by a highway. One half of it is a state park, the other half is residential.
Safiyyah, I think I know where your talking about more or less, and wow! Mashallah. My Granddaddy grew up near there. I absolutely love it, always lush and green. Plenty of trees.
You are really doing it all! I think most of us would have been whining about the packing and the closing on the house.
I love your idea about the perennials. I kill plants, and sort of gave up. This is a great idea and sounds like it requires less tender loving care.
Can't wait to see the porch swing, off to check out your hijabs. Mashallah they are so pretty, and I love the staircase. Love you lots dear.
